Errors Cost Tigers in New Ulm

Adam Timm turned in his best performance of the year on the mound, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers squandered their lead in the late innings. New Ulm got on the board first, taking advantage of a lead-off walk and two hits in the bottom of the first inning for a 2-0 lead. The Tigers took the lead in the top of the fourth. Matt Baier led off with a base hit. Ryan Sturm drew a base on balls. Matt Tews then laid down a perfectly placed bunt to fill the bases. Adam Timm knocked in a run with a single. Jesse Berg brought in the tying run when he reached on a fielder's choice. Marty Brandl gave the Tigers the lead with an RBI single to centerfield. The score remained 3-2, until the bottom of the seventh when the Brewers took advantage of a Tiger error and a lead-off walk to tie the ballgame. New Ulm took the lead in the bottom of the eighth when they led off with a single. A Springfield error moved the base runner around to third. He then scored on a sacrifice fly, giving New Ulm a 4-3 lead. After their rally in the fourth inning, the Tigers were only able to get one more hit on the evening as Brewer pitcher, Ryan Walters, found his groove. The loss drops the Tigers to 10-9 on the year. They'll look to get back into the win column when they return home to face Redwood Falls on Saturday night.
Adam Timm definitely pitched well enough to win, but took the hard-luck loss
for the Tigers. He gave up just four hits on the evening. Timm also
stayed hot at the plate getting two more hits. Matt Tews also added two
hits. Matt Baier, Ryan Sturm, and Marty Brandl each added one hit to the
Springfield attack.
