Tigers Start 2006 Season With a 10 Inning Victory

Tigers Defeated by Essig

6/21/06

The warm Wednesday evening at Riverside Park turned out to be an evening the Tigers would like to forget.  In the first inning, the Bluejays got two runs off Tiger starter Adam Timm.  Springfield came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game on three straight hits by Timm, Brady Schwab, and Ryan Sturm.  Essig took the lead in the top of the third inning and never looked back.  The Tigers got the deficit down to one with a run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 4-3.  However, the Bluejays flew out way ahead of the Tigers by taking advantage of four Springfield errors during the sixth through eighth innings to make the final score 10-4.  The Tigers will continue their home stand this weekend with games on Friday against Hanska and Sunday versus Searles.

Adam Timm started on the mound for the Tigers going the first six plus innings.  He was tagged for eight runs, but only three of them were earned.  Brandon Wilhelmi pitched the final three innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits.  At the plate Timm, Schwab, and Marty Brandl all had two hits.  Wilhelmi, Sturm, Matt Baier, and Jon Diede added one hit a piece to the Tiger total.
